Did you know that one year ago Making Chicago Home debuted its first post? That’s right! Today Making Chicago Home turns one year old, and I could not be more proud of my baby blog!

Creating and maintaining a blog is not easy. Andrew Sullivan sets the bar high with a team of people who blog around the clock about everything from politics to music, and he attracts more readers that 20 people could shake 20 sticks at.

And although I can only dream that Making Chicago Home will one day be a blog rockstar, I am so happy for having my readers: whether they be regulars or once-in-a-lifetime drop-ins who just want to learn a little something about the most fabulous Chicago.

Moving to the Windy City has been one of the best decisions I have ever made, but starting Making Chicago Home was, too. It has challenged me to always explore and find places that make me, and my readers, happy and excited about living here.

I just want to take time on MCH’s birthday to thank all of my readers and the good people who have helped me come this far in the blogosphere:

To my readers: In MCH’s early days it only attracted 140 or so people a week. And it was thrilling! Now it is attracting around 3,000/wk and I chalk it up to you! Thank you for tuning in, commenting, subscribing and spreading the word!!

To my friends: Old and new for always keeping an eye open for interesting events and bearing with me as I snap tons of pictures (even when strangers give me weird stares).

To social networking platforms and media: Especially the Windy Citizen for giving us little blogs a really big voice on the ever-expanding internet! And to all the people under my links page who found something worth sharing with their readers…it always makes my day when I see MCH get picked up!

To my Mom, Dad, brother and family: Who have always been excited for MCH’s success and stuck by me even when I wrote a post on butchering sheep and pigs. Thanks, fam! :o)

To Chicago and its diverse, fabulous residents: For being a constant inspiration… what with your freezing cold weather; your interesting history, questionable politics, vast diversity and all of the many events that people plan on a daily basis. How could one ever, ever be bored of Chicago? It is the best city in the United States, hands down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Now, off to make a birthday cake….
